The Black & Blue party is the culmination of a week long festival held annually in Montreal. This was the 9th year that the gay community of Montreal had held this festival as a fundraiser for AIDS research. Starting out as a small party, the event has grown to an attendance estimated at 30,000 people this year for the main party held in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

For the third year, Laser F/X was invited by New Wave Productions of Montreal, along with Stellar Designs to supply part of the laser equipment needed for this event. With four laser projection systems and a total of 40 watts of white-light lasers, this event is one of the biggest laser shows at a party in North America.

This report is a little different from our regular reports... but then again the Black & Blue is not your average Party! In this report we have chosen to focus more on the technology and the events at the party than on the people who attended and the DJ's that played. We have divided the report into three sections, a look "behind the scenes" at the set-up for the party, a report on the live shows at the party and the party itself, which ran from 21:00 on Sunday the 10th until 12:15 on Monday the 11th!
